Features

The bilingual editions of The New Oxford Picture Dictionary show the second language in blue alongside the English word. A complete index appears at the back of each dictionary.

The illustrated beginner's workbook provides extensive practice with the vocabulary presented in the dictionary. Designed especially for those with no prior knowledge of English, students are introduced to the concrete and familiar vocabulary they need for survival in their new environment. Each lesson includes a variety of exercises, beginning at the word level and moving on to sentences. Skills such as alphabetizing, categorizing, and labeling are developed. The intermediate workbook contains additional vocabulary practice. Each exercise is coded to indicate its level of difficulty, making the activities useful to all students at low through high-intermediate levels. The listening and speaking activity book is a teacher resource and student activity book combined, with reproducible activity sheets and picture cards for more than 96 communicative activities. A separate cassette includes lively dialogues and monologues for many of the listening activities.
